Asia strengths in turbulent times

IMG_2834BAsia remained the most dynamic part of the global economy and was well positioned to meet the challenges ahead provided it stayed the course on reforms, according to Changyong Rhee, director of the Asia and Pacific Department of the IMF, at an FCC lunch on May 4. Nonetheless, growth in the Asian and Pacific economies was expected to decelerate slightly in 2016-17, partly reflecting slower-than-expected global growth; tighter global financial conditions, especially given high leverage in the region; and other regional risks like natural disasters, domestic political and international geopolitical tensions, and the success (or lack of success) of Abenomics.
