The recent Tokyo Olympics was the most successful ever for Hong Kong, with a record haul of six medals including only the second ever gold medal won by a Hong Kong athlete. This was the culmination of years of preparation from both the athletes, their coaches and the Hong Kong Sports Institute which oversees Hong Kong’s Olympic programme. Dr. Trisha Leahy, is the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Sports Institute, delivering Hong Kong’s elite sports system. She will give behind-the-scenes insights into how this success was achieved and how Hong Kong can build on the legacy of the Tokyo Olympics. Dr. Trisha Leahy is the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Sports Institute. She had previously worked at the Australia Institute of Sport, where she was awarded the Australia Sports Medal for services to Olympic sport in 2000. She has been a member of the HKSAR Government’s Women’s Commission and the Equal Opportunities Commission and was awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star in 2014 and the Silver Bauhinia Star in 2020 for her contribution to the community and to sport. Internationally. She was a member of a UNICEF expert panel advising on global research and strategies to prevent abuse in sport and a member of the International Olympic Committee’s Medical Commission expert consultative committee on the prevention of abuse and harassment in sport. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
