Dr. Yang Jiemian has been one of China’s most influential foreign policy intellectuals for the past quarter century. His talk will focus on the strategic thinking and policy readjustment of China’s diplomacy under the new leadership, as China realigns its global and regional strategy with more forward-looking and predictable policies. He will also discuss possible approaches to future challenges.

The speaker received his bachelor’s degree at the Shanghai Teachers’ University, his master’s degrees at the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS) and the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy, and his doctorate at the Shanghai International Studies University. He is a senior fellow and former president of SIIS, and the director of its academic committee and a member of the Shanghai Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. Dr. Yang is also a guest professor/fellow at the PLA National Defense University, Shanghai International Studies University and Tongji University.

The Commissioner’s Office of the P.R.C. Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong helped arrange this speaker’s visit.
