How can Hong Kong rise above COVID?
|Currently embattling the fifth wave of COVID outbreak, Hong Kong seems to be in dire straits with a looming universal testing and lockdown. Salaries are cut, jobs are lost, businesses have closed, and some people are leaving. In a widely circulated letter addressed to the Chief Executive, Allan Zeman believes that confusing messages from the government are causing widespread panic in the community and real damage is being done to the society and the economy. The international reputation of the city is damaged, and the “One Country Two Systems” might disappear. The “Godfather of Lan Kwai Fong” will discuss what can be done to protect what’s left of the lives of people and businesses. Moderated by FCC President Keith Richburg.|
|Allan Zeman, GBM, GBS, JP, founded and is the chairman of Lan Kwai Fong Group. Having lived in Hong Kong for over 50 years, he has been involved in government services as well as community activities. He sits on the board of many companies including the Star Ferry, Sino Land, TVB, and is also the non-executive chairman of Wynn Macau. He is the vice patron of Hong Kong Community Chest and has served on the board of the Airport Authority and the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority. Dr. Zeman was awarded the Grand Bauhinia Medal in 2011 and was the recipient of honorary degrees from City University, University of Science and Technology, and the Metropolitan University.|
