In 1942, Hong Kong is under Japanese occupation. But British agents are operating clandestinely inside the city, including, one, Charles, whose smuggling operation funnels food and medicine to allied POWs. Charles eventually teams up with Ling, a beautiful Chinese dancer whose work at the Pearl Club is a cover for her role in the resistance. For Ling, it’s personal – her brother Covin is being held inside a POW camp and desperately needs penicillin to survive. But when the Japanese camp commander becomes suspicious, the Kenpeitai, or Military Police, turn up the heat and the clandestine operation begins to unravel, threatening Charles and Ling with their own questions of survival.
Join us for a special star-studded night at the FCC to meet the producer, the director of photography, and the lead actress who plays Ling. In addition, the film’s director will join the event via Zoom. Moderated by FCC President Keith Richburg.
