Many knew Sunday Times reporter Marie Colvin as one of the most intrepid, celebrated war correspondents of her time, and her life was depicted in the 2018 Hollywood biopic “A Private War.” The feature documentary,”Under the Wire”, is about Colvin’s final journey, on 13 February 2012 to war-torn Syria. Colvin was accompanied by photographer Paul Conroy, to cover the plight of civilians trapped in the besieged city of Homs as it was attacked by the Syrian army. The film is based on Conroy’s book of the same name, and told through the voices of the individuals directly involved, all talking to the camera for the first time. “Under the Wire” is a gripping account of the triumph of the human spirit and a timely, important reminder of the dangers journalists face to report the truth in the face of often overwhelming adversity

“Under the Wire” was directed by Chris Martin, an award winning feature documentary and TV director. Since moving into long form documentary filmmaking, after producing investigative reports for ITV’s World In Action and C4 Dispatches, he has made a number of films with acclaimed journalist, John Pilger, including “Palestine Is Still The Issue,” “Stealing A Nation,” and “The War On Democracy.” “Under The Wire” was released in theatres in both the U.K. and the U.S.

This film is being screened with support from the U.S. Consulate General and the British Consulate-General Hong Kong.
