No Ordinary Life tells the story of five pioneering camerawomen who travelled the world for CNN while filming some of the most important and dangerous events of the past few decades. The documentary, which had its online world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year, details the lives and careers of Jane Evans, Maria Fleet, Margaret Moth, Mary Rogers and Cynde Strand. Each one is a legend who braved the front lines of natural disasters and conflicts from behind their cameras, in a male-dominated field. Moderated by FCC Correspondent Board Governor and CNN Anchor/Correspondent Kristie Lu Stout. |

Heather O’Neill is an Emmy and Peabody Award-winning journalist and documentary filmmaker. No Ordinary Life, her directorial debut on a feature documentary film, premiered at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival. In 2015 she traveled to Bikini Atoll to direct and produce a shark conservation special with Philippe Cousteau Jr. for the Discovery Channel. With CNN Presents, the award-winning documentary series, she directed and produced more than twenty documentaries. For over a decade she spearheaded projects for CNN around the world, from melting glaciers in Greenland, to conflicts across the Middle East, to the danger journalists face covering the drug trade in Mexico. She has earned more than a dozen journalism awards, including three Emmy Awards and multiple Peabody Awards. |

Cynde Strand is an award-winning journalist with 40 years of experience in international newsgathering, front line coverage and documentary. For more than 20 years, Cynde traveled the world as a CNN cameraperson/producer assigned to bureaus in Beirut, Beijing, Nicosia, London and Johannesburg. Cynde covered major stories including the Tiananmen Square protests and crackdown, the first Gulf War based in Baghdad, the first free and democratic election in South Africa, the aftermath of genocide in Rwanda and famine in Somalia. In 2004, Cynde moved to Atlanta to join the CNN team running international news coverage. She directed coverage during breaking news and managed some of CNN’s biggest and most challenging stories including the Arab Spring and the rise and fall of ISIS. |
