Are China and the United States destined for conflict or cooperation? No other geopolitical question is perhaps more pressing in our time. Join us for a conversation with Bill Owens, whose new book US-China 2039: The Endgame? looks at the next two decades of foreign policy between the superpowers and gives a view of “what it will be like then.” The author provides 12 policy recommendations in that time to avoid future conflict and confrontation, with the hope that a constructive relationship could be developed between the world’s two largest economies. Moderated by FCC president, Jodi Schneider.
Admiral William T. Owens served in the US Navy for 35 years, completing his tour as the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He was the Sixth Fleet Commander during the first Desert Storm. Owens also has had a distinguished career in business including as the CEO of Nortel and is currently involved in the Red Bison Technology Group, a company he founded in 2015. In 2009, Owens founded Amerilink Telecom Corp., a U.S. telecommunications consultancy that partnered with Huawei Technologies Co. to unsuccessfully bid for a contract to upgrade telecom operator Sprint’s mobile network. He is active in philanthropy to foster Chinese-American relations.
